Meaning Brought to my Life, W.K.

I have always had a general knowledge and belief in God. I grew up in a Catholic family and attended CCD as a child. I was confirmed in seventh grade and everything seemed okay; however, shortly thereafter, my parents got divorced. My only way of dealing with the pain was to withdraw into myself. I left my circle of friends and everything else that seemed to matter to me. After about one year of emptiness and despair, I cried out to God that if He really did exist, He needed to show me. The Lord answered my prayer about six months later.

In high school my friends asked me if I wanted to attend a youth group. They kept asking me to go, but I refused. One night at the youth group (as I was told later) a friend, Donna, signed me up to attend a weekend retreat without even asking me. Donna told me the next day what she had done and I was shocked. After much consideration, I decided to go. I really believe that the Holy Spirit was leading and preparing me for the retreat. It was at that retreat that I received the Lord as my personal Savior. All my childhood years attending CCD never told me how to know Jesus Christ in a personal and intimate way. After receiving the Lord, meaning was brought into my life.

I was fortunate to have a believer take care of me spiritually during my high school years. When I went to college, I signed up for a Bible study held by some Christians. It was at this Bible study that my Christian life took a more positive turn. The Christians who led the Bible study spoke from the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. During these Bible studies, I got to know my human spirit and the Bible like I had never known them before. Shortly thereafter, I began meeting with the local church.

Today I am a certified reading specialist, married and a mother of two. I have met with the local churches for over 12 years and feel that my growth as a Christian is mainly due to the fellowship I have received over many years in the local churches and the conferences held by Witness Lee. I am most appreciative and grateful to the Lord for introducing me to the local churches.
